For us, the health and well-being of the child or young person we’re supporting is of the utmost importance, with their physical, emotional, and mental health needs being a top priority for us.

  • A safe place to live with safe relationships.
  • Registration at primary health services.
  • Support to attend appointments.
  • Medication as needed.
  • Exercise and a well-balanced diet.

Access to Healthcare Professionals

In addition to this, the child or young person will have access to the necessary support from healthcare professionals, including: a GP, dentist, optician, LAC Nurse and other medical professionals as required, based on their individual circumstances.

Meeting Individual Health Needs

However, we recognise that health and needs differ between each child or young person we support, with some having more complex health needs than others which is why our team are trained and equipped to support the specific needs of the individuals in our care.

Specialist Therapeutic Support

Internally, we have the support of a therapy team to assist with care planning and environmental management of the home. We also have a PBS lead who will support with care planning, review, evaluation, and behaviour support.

Psychological Support

We also access support from a children’s psychologist who completes a full needs assessment, who also provides support to the adults working in the home to ensure the best strategies are understood and met to help the child or young person.

What is the therapy team’s role?

  • Care Planning & Collaboration

    When supporting the young people or children in our care, a care plan is developed in line with their needs and in agreement with the wider care team – this includes our dedicated therapy team

  • Assessment & Behaviour Support

    Our therapy team are vital in helping to establish both initial focuses for care plans and in developing a positive behaviour support plan. In order to conduct these assessments our therapy team are committed to spending dedicated time with young person and staffing team.

  • Therapeutic Support & Supervision

    Offering individual therapy sessions for the young person or child we support is especially important following any potential serious incidents to allow them to discuss their thoughts and feelings. Our team also offer this support to our staffing team to provide supervision and signposting for emotionally challenging aspects of their role.
